Use Academic Research Skills when a researcher wants Claude Code to assist a paper or literature workflow without turning the agent into an unsupervised author. The suite provides skill and command surfaces for planning a paper, running literature-review workflows, drafting sections, checking writing quality, reviewing evidence, revising, and preparing outputs while keeping the human responsible for research judgment.
What this skill actually does
Invoke this instead of using normal chat when the work needs a repeatable academic pipeline: structured paper planning, citation and reference hygiene, claim support checks, review modes, style calibration, or submission-package verification. The upstream README documents concrete Claude Code plugin commands such as /ars-plan and /ars-lit-review, plus setup docs for optional Pandoc, Tectonic, Python-backed checks, and cross-model verification.
The boundary is academic research operations, not a generic writing assistant. The skill should keep the user in the loop, handle evidence and formatting chores, and surface integrity gates. It should not promise autonomous paper generation or publication without human review.
