Keep reviewable project memory for coding agents with OwnMem
Initialize Git-native project memory that Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and compatible coding agents can recall deterministically.

npm install --save-dev ownmem and then npx ownmem init --locale auto --hosts claude, codex --layers dashboard --hook; adjust --hosts for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or Gemini CLI as needed.Use OwnMem when a repository needs shared, reviewable project memory for coding agents without turning prior chats into an ungoverned knowledge base. The agent can initialize `.ownmem/`, wire selected host adapters, recall relevant project facts before scoped work, run audits, and use evidence-governed evolution for low-risk memory metadata while escalating prose and policy changes for review. Invoke this instead of relying on a product’s normal memory feature when the memory must live with the repo, be diffable in Git, and apply across multiple coding agents. The scope boundary is repository-owned coding-agent project memory and deterministic local recall, not generic RAG, personal memory, or a hosted memory platform.
What this skill actually does
Inputs and prerequisites: Node.js 20.6 or newer, npm/npx, OwnMem package, target repository, selected coding-agent hosts.
Setup notes: From the repository that should own memory, run npm install –save-dev ownmem and then npx ownmem init –locale auto –hosts claude, codex –layers dashboard –hook ; adjust –hosts for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or Gemini CLI as needed.
Source and verification boundary: use https://github.com/grpcer/ownmem as the canonical reference before running the workflow; keep commands, API calls, CLI usage, and generated outputs reviewable against that upstream source.
Framework fit: publish this as a Multi-Framework workflow only when the operator can invoke the documented toolchain directly, rather than treating the upstream project as a generic product listing.
