Run Open Steps so coding agents summarize work, generate plain-language verdicts, and hand off next steps that non-engineers can act on.

Open Steps is a pack of plain-language agent skills for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and similar coding agents. It gives the agent a repeatable reporting workflow: summarize technical work, review whether the task is done, generate an honest status report, explain what changed, call out risk, and provide next steps a product owner or non-engineer can follow.
What this skill actually does
Use this when an agent session ends in hashes, logs, or implementation jargon and the human needs a practical verdict instead of a raw engineering dump. The scope boundary is the agent’s communication and handoff layer. It is not a generic documentation product or a broad agent framework; the skill is invoked to make ongoing agent work understandable, reviewable, and actionable.
Inputs and prerequisites: A supported coding agent such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, or another runtime that can read agent skill instructions..
Setup notes: Install Open Steps from https://github.com/kharmanskyi/open-steps using the upstream instructions for your agent runtime, then invoke the included reporting skills when you need a plain-language session verdict, summary, risk note, or next-step handoff.
Source and verification boundary: use https://opensteps.ai as the canonical reference before running the workflow; keep commands, API calls, CLI usage, and generated outputs reviewable against that upstream source.
Framework fit: publish this as a Multi-Framework workflow only when the operator can invoke the documented toolchain directly, rather than treating the upstream project as a generic product listing.
