Resolve coding questions from upstream evidence with Firecrawl Developer Index
Find public issues, merged fixes and API-contract passages with Firecrawl’s named Developer Index skill, then return a cited, version-aware answer.

Use the named Firecrawl Developer Index skill when a coding question needs primary upstream evidence: the issue reporting a bug, the merged pull request resolving it, or the README or documentation passage defining an API contract. Provide the question, library identity and relevant version. The agent searches the public developer index, inspects the returned passages and source URLs, follows the resolution when necessary, and produces a cited answer that distinguishes a reported symptom from a documented fix.
What this skill actually does
Install the CLI with npm install -g firecrawl-cli, then install just the named skill with firecrawl setup developer-index --agent <agent> for the intended supported harness. Upstream lists Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, OpenCode, OpenClaw, OpenHands and Hermes Agent. The direct query is firecrawl developer "your error or API question" --limit 10. The dedicated index is documented as keyless, with an optional FIRECRAWL_API_KEY for higher limits. No browser login or global web-provider changes are required for this bounded workflow.
For precise filtering, use the documented GET or POST endpoint https://api.firecrawl.dev/v2/search/developer. Its optional types are doc, issue, pull_request and readme. Repository and documentation-source filters apply to different halves of the index and combine as a union. Inspect the echoed indexed flags before treating an empty scoped result as evidence of absence. Repository metadata filters can exclude documentation unless a documentation-source scope is supplied. The CLI does not expose these HTTP-only filters; do not invent CLI flags.
Use literal invariant error text for a failure investigation. Read the issue resolution and linked merged pull request before making a version-specific claim. For API contracts, favor documentation and README evidence. Return source URLs, relevant passages, artifact identities, the version implications actually established and any remaining uncertainty. Fetch the full source page when a snippet is insufficient. Public-repository coverage does not include private code; an unindexed repository requires another source route.
Invoke this instead of general Firecrawl scraping or normal web search when resolving a programming question requires artifact-aware upstream evidence. The boundary is one developer question and its cited evidence trail, excluding broad website crawling, lead generation, generic browser interaction, SDK integration and application creation. It differs from existing ASE Firecrawl entries by selecting this exact named skill and its issue-to-merged-fix and API-contract workflow. The documented CLI, HTTP and optional MCP surfaces support multiple runtimes, so Multi-Framework is appropriate. This review verifies source metadata and documented invocation, not live index coverage, answer accuracy, runtime behavior or security.
