Translate technical PDFs through RetainPDF while preserving layout
Route scanned, scientific, and technical PDFs through RetainPDF so an agent can produce translated PDFs while preserving formulas, tables, code blocks, and page layout.

Use RetainPDF when an agent or operator needs repeatable PDF translation for technical documents where preserving layout matters more than plain extracted text.
What this skill actually does
The workflow is to run RetainPDF from a desktop release or Docker deployment, submit PDFs through the web/API surface, configure translation strategy when needed, and return translated PDFs that keep page structure, formulas, tables, scanned-image OCR, code-sensitive handling, and compression controls intact.
This is not a generic PDF utility or translation product card. The boundary is document transformation for scanned, scientific, and technical PDFs where the output must remain a usable PDF with retained layout. It is especially relevant for batch review workflows, research-paper translation, and internal document processing where normal manual translation or copy/paste extraction loses structure.
Inputs and prerequisites: RetainPDF desktop release or Docker deployment, PDF inputs, OCR/translation backend configuration as required by upstream, optional API access for automation.
Setup notes: Download a RetainPDF desktop release from GitHub Releases, or clone https://github.com/wxyhgk/retain-pdf, enter docker/delivery, run docker compose up -d, and use the local web/API endpoint on the documented ports.
Source and verification boundary: use https://github.com/wxyhgk/retain-pdf as the canonical reference before running the workflow; keep commands, API calls, CLI usage, and generated outputs reviewable against that upstream source.
Framework fit: publish this as a Multi-Framework workflow only when the operator can invoke the documented toolchain directly, rather than treating the upstream project as a generic product listing.
